Assessment And Evaluation

At Darüşşafaka Schools, assessment and evaluation are structured based on the principles of traceability, development, and sustainability. All assessment and evaluation processes aim to boost quality and productivity in education. By way of feedback given to students and parents following an assessment, students are enabled to keep their motivation high by determining their strengths and weaknesses.

Darüşşafaka Schools have a special software called DEKSIS which is used to keep data about students’ learning activities and skills over the period of one academic year. Thanks to data maps and skills maps created with these pieces of information, it is possible to trace the development of a student from year to year.

The academic calendar contains a diverse range of assessment tools.

Assessment Tools:

  1. Written exams (short answer exams – quizzes)
  2. Homework
  3. Worksheets and booklets
  4. Reports (book reports, trip reports, experiment reports, etc.)
  5. Writing tasks– Presentations
  6. Research work– Projects
  7. Digital assessment and evaluation tools
  8. Portfolio building
  9. Multiple choice tests (Practice exams, learning-outcome tests, learning-outcome oriented comprehension tests, etc.)
  10. External assessments (PET, KET, FCE, IELTS, etc.)

Reporting of the assessment and evaluation activities includes content on the following aspects:

  • Course/Field Proficiency
  • Student (learning outcome/skill/capability/behavior)
  • Class (learning outcome/skill/capability/behavior)
  • School (learning outcome/skill/capability/behavior)
  • Development (learning outcome/skill/capability/behavior)
  • Taxonomy

The reports are collected in DEKSIS and addressed in regular evaluation meetings to determine a road map.

The Assessment and Evaluation Department of Darüşşafaka Schools closely follows the changing approaches to education and continuously updates how it operates to contribute to the achievement of continuous learning.
