Our Students, the Innovators of the Future, Attended the Medtronic Türkiye Event

On December 8th, our students, representing the pride of our nation, collaborated with volunteers from Medtronic Türkiye at the Medtronic Innovation Center in Istanbul for the “Medtronic Spark” event, an initiative designed to ignite curiosity and inspire future career paths in healthcare technology.

As part of Medtronic’s decade-long global initiative, Spark aspires to empower one million students from low-income households worldwide through educational, mentorship, and scholarship opportunities, while simultaneously helping them discover their talents in healthcare technology and promoting equality of opportunity.

Guided by 80 Medtronic employee volunteers, 110 Darüşşafaka students engaged in interactive activities that showcased cutting-edge applications, including robotic surgery and virtual reality technologies. This experience aimed to foster curiosity, enhance core skills such as collaboration, creativity, and self-confidence, and encourage students to envision themselves as the innovators of the future.

Dr. Sally Saba, Global Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer at Medtronic, and President of the Medtronic Foundation, provided her insights regarding the event:

“Our objective extends beyond merely impacting the lives of young individuals; we aim to transform their life trajectories by fostering future opportunities in healthcare technology. This is precisely the essence of Medtronic Spark. We firmly believe that every student possesses the potential to become an innovator. Unlocking this potential not only enriches their education and development but also facilitates access to specific healthcare careers that leverage innovation and technology to enhance human well-being.”

We extend our sincere appreciation to Medtronic Türkiye and its employee volunteers for their invaluable contribution to our enduring mission of “Equal Opportunity in Education, a commitment we have upheld since 1863.
