Aspiring Young Writer Defne Receives 3rd Place Award from Acclaimed Author Ayşe Kulin

The second edition of the “Ayşe Kulin Inter-High School Short Story Competition,” organized by the TED Istanbul College Foundation Private High School, has generated substantial enthusiasm.

The competition, which received entries from many talented young people, announced its results on April 27. Our 11th-grader, Defne G., secured 3rd place with her compelling short story, “Yarım Kalan Işık” (The Lingering Light), for effectively delving into the central theme of “Hope.”

The selection jury praised Defne’s work for its literary depth and her refined character analysis, recognizing her as a highly promising emerging voice in contemporary literature.

The highlight of the ceremony was Defne’s award presentation by Ayşe Kulin, a highly esteemed figure in Turkish literature. Kulin personally congratulated her and offered her heartfelt encouragement for her continued literary pursuits.

This milestone fills our institution with pride and stands as a strong testament to the eloquence and impact of our students’ writing.

We sincerely congratulate Defne on securing 3rd place at the “Ayşe Kulin Inter-High School Short Story Competition” with her profoundly moving story titled “Yarım kalan Işık” and eagerly anticipate the continued success of her writing journey.
