A Heart-to-Heart Gathering with the Students from the Earthquake Region

As part of the inspiring “Education Program for Distance Education of Students in the Earthquake-Stricken Regions,” supported by Darüşşafaka and running for two years, as was initiated with 5th  and 6th graders, the first face-to-face gathering took place.

Bringing to life the commitment of Darüşşafaka’s dedicated volunteers—Gamze Havva Kumaş, Sibel Sunay, Meryem Çördük Uzun, and Necati Karagöl- these passionate educators visited the cities of Adıyaman, Gaziantep, and Şanlıurfa from May 23-25, 2025, creating unforgettable experiences for both students and teachers. After a long period of online learning, education efforts blossomed into meaningful and powerful connections through this personal interaction.

Visits, “Motion at School,” and “Introduction Activities” organized by Darüşşafaka in each city provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect with their teachers and peers in the same program. The relationships that began during online education blossomed into deeper, more meaningful connections through face-to-face gatherings.

Feedback from parents and students not only touched the hearts of Darüşşafaka teachers but also inspired them. Witnessing the positive impact of online education on students’ academic growth filled teachers with joy, as the project fulfilled its purpose. Parents expressed their gratitude to Darüşşafaka for creating such a valuable opportunity.

During these visits, which transcend mere presence and serve as a crucial step to strengthen hope for the future, the excitement and joy in the students’ eyes reaffirmed that Darüşşafaka is on the right path.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Darüşşafaka for providing equal educational opportunities to students in the earthquake-stricken regions, to their dedicated volunteer teachers, and to everyone who connects from heart to heart.
