Our Darüşşafaka High School Preparatory Class B student, Elif Belinay, won second prize in the fifth In the Footsteps of Tarık Buğra (Tarık Buğra’nın İzinde) Inter-High School Short Story Competition, organized by Istanbul Boys’ High School, for her short story titled “The Rattle of a Lifetime (Bir Ömrün Takırtısı)”, and her prize was presented during the award ceremony held on June 19.
The theme of this year’s competition, organized to honor the memory of one of the leading figures of Turkish literature, Tarık Buğra, and to encourage young people to embark on their own writing journeys, was “Threshold (Eşik).” With her prize-winning story, our student Elif stood out not only for her powerful storytelling and original perspective, but also as a student who discovered the transformative power of literature at an early age.
Our educational approach supports not only our students’ academic achievements but also their artistic and cultural development, enabling them to express themselves in a variety of fields. Elif Belinay’s achievement is a valuable reflection of the qualified educational philosophy, which enriches our students’ intellectual worlds and fosters a culture of reading and writing.
