The award ceremony for the 19th edition of \u201cHi\u015ft Gen\u00e7 Sait Faik\u201d story writing contest, an annual event aimed at honoring the esteemed writer Sait Faik Abas\u0131yan\u0131k, an influential donor of Dar\u00fc\u015f\u015fafaka, was held at the Mustafa Nuri K\u0131n\u0131k Library of Dar\u00fc\u015f\u015fafaka Schools on May 22, 2025, Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n

During the ceremony, Bark\u0131n E. was honored with the first prize for his poem \u201cBat\u0131k Gemi\/Sunken Ship\u201d at the poetry competition organized in tribute to the esteemed poet Nig\u00e2r Han\u0131m at Dar\u00fc\u015f\u015fafaka Schools. His poem was presented aloud by his classmate, Utku Deniz A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zeynep \u00d6., an 11th-grade student at Dar\u00fc\u015f\u015fafaka High School, has achieved notable recognition by securing the third prize in the Cemal S\u00fcreya Poetry Contest, which is traditionally organized by Haydarpa\u015fa High School. Additionally, she was awarded the second prize in the Fakir Baykurt Story Writing Contest held in our district. During the event for the Cemal S\u00fcreya Poetry Contest, she presented her poem titled “Hicran Sarraf\u0131” (Dealer of Sorrow), for which she received the aforementioned third prize.<\/p>\n\n\n

An\u0131l Kanber, the Literature-Social Team Leader of Dar\u00fc\u015f\u015fafaka Schools, delivered a speech emphasizing the significant connection between Dar\u00fc\u015f\u015fafaka and Sait Faik Abas\u0131yan\u0131k, as well as the importance of story writing contests held in memory of Sait Faik Abas\u0131yan\u0131k at Dar\u00fc\u015f\u015fafaka.<\/p>\n\n\n

Subsequently, a documentary commemorating Sait Faik Abas\u0131yan\u0131k was presented to the students and guests of Dar\u00fc\u015f\u015fafaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the documentary, the members of the Supreme Jury for the Young Sait Faik Story Writing Contest, including Sibel Oral, Burcu Akta\u015f, and the former Head of the Turkish Department at Dar\u00fc\u015f\u015fafaka Schools, G\u00fcls\u00fcn Kaya, were acknowledged for their contributions. Burcu Akta\u015f also delivered a brief address during the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n

As the event progressed, Nisa N. And Esma Bera T., tenth-grade students, performed \u201cEternity and A Day\u201d and \u201cFikrimin \u0130nce G\u00fcl\u00fc\u201d on contrabass and violin, providing an enjoyable experience for the attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n

Mithat Ziya \u00c7., from Private ALEV High School, achieved first place with his narrative titled \u201cDurak-Stop<\/em>\u201d, Damla Deniz D., from Private \u015ei\u015fli Terakki High School, secured second place with her story titled \u201cZalim Mart\/Cruel March<\/em>\u201d, while Ya\u011fmur A., from Private ENKA High School, garnered third place with her work titled \u201cSo\u011fuk\/Cold<\/em>\u201d, following a comprehensive evaluation of the submissions by the Pre-Jury and Supreme Jury, comprised esteemed Turkish Philology educators from Dar\u00fc\u015f\u015fafaka Schools across Istanbul.<\/p>\n\n\n

Furthermore, the results of this year\u2019s contest held across Istanbul revealed that \u00a0Sude Beyza D., a student from TED Istanbul College, received an Encouragement Award for her narrative titled \u201cPortakal Kabu\u011fu\/Orange Peel<\/em>\u201d. Similarly, Beren Do\u011fa B., from I\u015f\u0131k Ayaza\u011fa Anatolian High School, was also honored with the same award for her work titled \u201cMumun G\u00f6z\u00fcnden\/From the Perspective of the Candle<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n

The first place was awarded to Perihan K., a student in class 11-B at Dar\u00fc\u015f\u015fafaka High School, for her story entitled \u201cDemlikte Kalan\/What Remains in the Teapot<\/em>\u201d, and Azime S., also from class 11-B, secured the second position with her narrative \u201cBir K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck Kargo Meselesi\/A Small Matter of Cargo<\/em>\u201d, and Ali Ka\u011fan \u015e., a student from class 9-B, achieved third place with his story titled \u201cKaptan Kemalettin ve Sekoya Orman\u0131\/Captain Kemalettin and Sequoia Forest\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n

The award ceremony for the 19th edition of the \u201cHi\u015ft, Gen\u00e7 Sait Faik!\u201d Story Writing Contest concluded with a collective aspiration for another year rich in storytelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
